December Secretary Report

Our last meeting was on Monday December 1st, 2008. It was held at the Sheyenne Ninth Grade Center and it started at 7:00. The meeting was called to order by Ally. Pledges were said with Karley reading the American pledge and Bryce reading the 4H pledge. The secretary’s report was read by Shannah. The treasurer’s report was read by Tina. The roll call topic was ‘What do you want for Christmas?’

Old Business:

Our clinics are going to be on January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th from noon to 5:00. We talked about Dan Grunwald doing a two day clinic on March 7th and 8th, Ally motioned that we book him and Bryce seconded.

The Minnesota horse expo is coming up soon and we were throwing out the idea of going as a club and were wondering if there was any interest.

The Christmas party was booked from 5-8 at the Y-west on December 13. We were buying pizza there. If you wanted to be part of the gift exchange, you were supposed to bring a $5-$10 gift. We were planning on about 20 club members and 20 visitors. We could bring treats to snack on and Mandy said that she would bring the pop. We also were giving waivers that we needed signed and brought back on the day of the party, to go on the rock climbing wall.

This year instead of cleaning up the 4H building after the fair, we are setting up and tearing down for the speech and expo contest. The contest is on January 31, 2009 and the deadline for registering is on January 16. Kathy and Mandy said that they could be there. We are handing out the awards at 12:30. Ally said that she would be the photographer. The awards are going to be given out by Bryce and Kayli. Everyone was to help cleanup.

For our club horse show we were discussing whether we should refurbish our trophies or buy new ones. Shannah motioned that we refurbish and Bryce seconded. Kathy said she would have the day we go through them at her house.

New Business:

The Variety show and skit is on March 29, 2009 at Northern Cass high school. We decided to do the Apple Toss again this year for our game. We need register by January 26. The club was interested in doing a skit, Mandy and Kathy said they would coordinate it.

A show saddle was for sale, it is a 14 ½ inch saddle for $1000.

Congratulations to Amanda for going to Nationals for judging in Indianapolis. Her team took silver and she took a 4th place. Amanda has been awarded a $750 scholarship.

We have had the library books for awhile and was wondering if anyone would be interested in checking one out.

We talked about doing a fundraiser for the kids that go to state fair and we decided to sell fruit. If someone wanted to pay with what they sell for their individual trip then that was okay too.

We received a thank you from the festival of wreaths for our donation of two table top trees.

The next meeting is at the fair grounds on January 5, at 7:00. The officers were to be there at 6:15.

Our club is writing a letter to Mrs. Hartle and Brian, thanking them for letting us use the Hartle building at no expense.

Ally adjourned the meeting, Michaela seconded.

Demos: Sarah-calf halters and Bree-how to hold reins on a horse.
