January Secretary Report
Our last meeting was on January 5th, 2009 at the Red River Valley Fair Grounds. The meeting was called to order by Ally at 7:00. The roll call topic was ‘What is your favorite Christmas present?’ Pledges were read with Tina leading the American pledge, and Karley leading the 4H pledge. 19 members present, 3 members absent, and 10 guests. The treasurer’s report was read by Tina and the secretary’s report was read by Shannah.
New Business:
The January clinic was planned to be on January 11, from noon to five. The clinicians are Sandy and Kathy showing how to get your horse ready for a show, Becky demonstrating drill team, and Wally talking about bits. Kathy said she would bring hot chocolate, Sandy will bring hot dogs, and Lori would bring coffee. Everyone was to bring a treat.
The February clinic is going to be held on the 8th. No clinicians are scheduled for this clinic. Ally motioned we have the February meeting during the lunch break of the February clinic, Karley seconded.
The club decided to have a two day clinic on March 7 and 8. The club decided we have Dan Grunwald come in and show basic horsemanship. Sarah motioned we pay the fee for the extra arena time that is not free, Ally seconded. Ally motioned that the parents pay $10 for each rider to help pay for expenses, Megan 2nd.
The Speech/Project expo is on January 31st; our club is scheduled for the set-up and cleanup for this event. The registration deadline is on January 16th. We are to be there by 7:00 a.m. to help set-up.
The variety show and is on March 29th, at Northern Cass School, we have decided to use the same game as previous years. Registration deadline for the skit is on January 23rd.
We have decided not to reschedule the Christmas party which was cancelled due to bad weather. The gift exchange is taking place at the January clinic. Sammy and Bryce are figuring out how the gifts with be exchanged.
The 4H Demo contest is taking play on February 28 at the Annex building-lower level. The fashion contest is on May 2, 2009.
We have decided to donate money and send cards to the Tietmeyer’s, the Lee, and the Dunnuck families for the tragedies that have recently happened within their families. Shannah motioned we send $75 to each family with card, Sammy seconded.
Our club needs to start thinking about classes for our annual horseshow. Lori suggested we might switch show format to match WSCA shows.
