Old Business:
We decorated trees for the festival of wreaths. They are to be auctioned off at the Ramada and the proceeds are going to the Cancer Survivor Program. As a club we decided that it would be something that we would be interested in doing again.
We worked the NDSU rodeo concessions again this year and made about the same amount that we did last year. We also got many compliments on our low prices and were looking to do it again next year.
We talked about our clinics. Mary told us that the arena was open in January, open on the 7th, 8th, 21st, 22nd, and 28th of February, and on March 1st, 7th, and 8th. Shannah motioned we have the dates for our clinics on January 11th, February 8th, and on March 8th, and it was seconded by Sammy. Sammy motioned that the kids get into separate committees for each clinic and decide on the plan for the clinic, and Karley 2nd. The committees are: for the January 11th clinic, Shannah and Sammy are planning it, the February 8th clinic committee is Karley and Ally, and the March 8th committee is Michaela, Kendra, Tina, and Sarah.
Thomas brought ideas on prices for our Christmas party for the Y-west and Skateland. Shannah motioned that we have it at the Y-West. Hannah motioned to have the Christmas party on the 13 of December from 5-8 p.m., and Sarah seconded. We decided that we would order pizza and bring treats. Anyone who wants to participate in the gift exchange is to bring a 5-10 dollar gift that is versatile for any age.
Speech and Project expo is on January 31, 2009 and the deadline for registration is January 16th, 2009. Our club has decided to work at this instead of doing fair clean-up so we are to help set up and tear down at the expo.
New Business:
Shannah brought up that the North Dakota High school rodeo association asked our club if they could use our timer for the Jackpot barrel race on Friday night. Sammy motioned that we let them use it as long as they sign a waiver, Bryce seconded.
We were to think about reusing the old trophies we have for our show next year.
Lori brought up Red Horse Ranch Clinics. On is on Monday, November 17th and is on bits, a two hour clinic. There is also one on Monday, December 8th on different tack. The clinic is 20$.
The year end club awards were handed. Congratulations to Michaela for winning member of the year and to Tina for winning the Sportsmanship award.
The meeting was adjourned by Ally and seconded by Sammy.
The next meeting is going to be at the Sheyenne center again
Demos were done. Sammy gave a demo on safety with horses, Shannah gave a demo on what you should look for when you are buying a new horse, and Morgan gave a demo on taking care of rabbits.
